Women's Health Symposium: Maternal Mental Health

The need for guidance and clarity relative to meeting the mental health and psychiatric needs of women during pregnancy and the perinatal periods is critical relative to improving outcomes for both mother and child. The one-day symposium will explore psychiatric illnesses including Postpartum Depression during these critical times in a woman’s life. A look at nutritional issues as well as pharmacological management will be discussed as well as maternal health care disparities.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Medical Specialists in Ob-Gyn, Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, Primary Care, and Family Medicine as well as Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Residents in Training and Medical Students.

OBJECTIVES:
1. To increase knowledge about psychiatric disorders and their manifestations during pregnancy and the perinatal periods
2. To provide the most recent updates on pharmacological treatment for psychiatric conditions during pregnancy and the perinatal periods
3. To enhance knowledge regarding the role that nutrition plays in improving mental health and pregnancy outcomes in this patient population
